I have the dubious pleasure of spending three hours in Ilford every Sunday morning. The Exchange is the same as it was when it opened twenty-five years ago, you can hardly turn a corner outside without finding an outstretched hand, the pavements are decorated with vomit and most people you pass in the street at 9am stink of booze and stale cigarettes (you find the same people on the benches in Valentine's Park as the day progresses).
The place is a shithole.

If you or your parents were stupid enough to move out to Essex, then more fool you. Us REAL EAST LONDONERS laugh out loud at you lot ad we watch our house prices go through the roof and Isabella moves in while Iqbal moves out to you with the best part of a million quid in his bin. I make you right there mate. I was born in Forest Gate, brought up in East Ham. Moved to Wickford in 2001 brain washed by the Essex dream. Moved to Manor park in 2011 for personal reasons. Recently moved moved back to Essex because all my family live in the Wickford/Rayliegh area. Essex doesn't feel like home, never has and never will. Despite it's problems Newham is.

Manor Park is glorious all year round but even better in this weather.
Wickford is a bunch of houses in a field plotted next to some industrial estates and an a road.
No history, no culture. As bland as skimmed milk.
